Use common sense and only meet once you have exchanged enough emails to make you feel comfortable. I usually emailed for a week or two, sometimes longer, depending on the person, before I met up with anyone. I also found that its MUCH safer to use site you pay for because only those who are subscribed and only those with a subscription can email you back and forth. A subscription helps add some legitimacy to them because they need a credit card to subscribe and that creates a paper trail. Pay sites also allow you to interact without ever revealing your email address, so if you want to end it, you can right away and with no way for the other party to contact you.

-never give out your adress& phone#
-chat with the person often enough that you can understand his undertones!

  3. be careful, don’t give out your physical address or phone number. get to know the person. ask questions. there are a lot of people who are very dishonest online. take it slow.

Meet for the first few dates in public places. Usually that’s enough time to know whether or not your date may be psycho.
Don’t give out your last name, address, and maybe even your unpublished phone number. Certainly, don’t give out your place of employment.
Only use an email address specifically for online dating. Don’t use a personal email address, or one that you use to sign up on sites. People can find out info from your email if it’s all over the web.
Number one tip: Pay attention to your gut feeling. Your instincts are 99% right!!!
    Good luck!

Yes, always meet in a public place, and never leave with him. Don’t give him your address until you know him better.
Been there, done that,,,met a lot of duds, but now happily married for 4 years to my dream guy! Good luck!

  7. Arkansas Mohawk Indian says:

“Don’t give your information as to where to find you.”

  8. Ulu says:

Ask for his number and call him, don’t give him your home/cell #. Never give out your address. (Stalkers love addresses.)
Meet in a well-lit public place, like at the front door of the restaurant. Or date during the day, if possible.
Don’t give out too much info about yourself (he is a stranger, after all).
Trust your gut. If you get a creepy feeling about someone, cease all communication and don’t worry about hurting their feelings. They may be a serial killer! Oops…
