Are There Dating Sites With Tips For Aspies (people With Asperger Syndrome)?
I ask this, because I believe I have Aspergers and I am in my 30s now and I believe the condition has significantly impaired me from entering the relationship world. I am late 30s and have never dated nor been in a relationship.
I was wondering if there was a web site with helpful tips to help Aspies find meaningful relationships?
Here are some of the traits affecting people with Aspergers
> Monotone voice and face (distinct lack of facial expressions)
> Not understanding subtle humor and answering rhetorical questions and sarcastic questions as if they are real questions seeking an answer.
> Not very talkative and continually have trouble starting a conversation.
> Inability to maintain a conversation that is not single subject and jumps around from subject to subject, mixed in with subtle points and ironies.
> Lack of eye contact. It is not that we Aspies are afraid, it is just that direct eye contact, seems hostile and is an overload to the senses.
>Knowing when to take the initiative, especially if you are a guy, where society expects it to be the male role to take charge.
>Not being a very physically affectionate person and bumble around and move very awkwardly when trying to do simple things like kissing and hugging (not to even mention more intimate contact)
> Laughing to ourselves and being happy in our own world, regardless of what state of mind our partner is in.
>Let’s not forget the incandescent need to spend most of the day by ourselves, which can really put a damper on any kind of relationship.
I know people like to argue over diagnosis but the difference between people with just a lack of confidence and Aspies is that the people without confidence still get it, while Aspies don’t even on their best day.

I think that a good website to look at would be http://www.wrongplanet.net there is also a publishing company called Jessica KIngsley publishing http://www.jkp.com who has a few books on dating and Asperger’s Syndrome. Good luck
