Are There Bible Verses About Having A Relationship With Christ Before Dating Boys?
Hi, I have been a Christian since I was very little. For a school paper, I have decided to write about why I choose to have a strong and firm relationship with Christ before I date anyone. However, I can’t seem to find bible verses that relate to having a relationship with God before dating or getting married. Do you know of any?

Well God does tell us to put our relationship with Him before ALL other things including relationships. Seek first His kingdom, and all else is secondary. If you live your daily life with everything that Jesus taught us always taking precedence over everything else, then you will be fine. Personally I dont think girls should have a “steady” relationship with one person before they are 21. Its just not worth it, and its much more freeing, as well as enlightening, to go out as friends with different guys for a few years.
Here is a couple of scriptures to consider.
Every Christian needs to keep in mind that what we do reflects on God, either to bring glory to him or dishonor him. In regard to your desire to do have a strong relationship with God, you are doing well to keep that in mind.
31 Therefore, whether YOU are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.
And when we see Paul’s words about the marriage of a widow, would also show the standard that Christian women would consider with the first marriage.
39 A wife is bound during all the time her husband is alive. But if her husband should fall asleep [in death], she is free to be married to whom she wants, only in [the] Lord.
The above principle is in harmony with Paul’s words to the Corinthians.
14 Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what sharing does light have with darkness?
well, there a few that will probably help you out:
Jesus told his disciples to seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of GOD and the things they desired would be added unto them. (matthew 6:33)
psalm 37:4 says to “delight thyself in the LORD and he will give thee the desires of thine heart.”
hosea 2 is a favorite passage of mine. in it, GOD is a loving husband who lovingly and patiently restores israel’s soul and confidence in Him. it can serve as a message that a woman’s true love is GOD. His love does not displace a relationship with a boy or husband, but it acts as a model for it. just as GOD loves, protects, provides for, and nurtures a woman, the boy you date and/or the man you marry should be willing and able to do the same. it is important for girls to get to know this aspect of GOD first so that they will know what to look for in a love relationship.
No, because they don’t exist.
Dating boys is not a subject covered in the Bible because in those times, girls did not date boys.
Also because the Bible does not mention “having a relationship” with Christ. That is a modern idea invented by modern preachers.
2 Cor 6:14 (KJV)
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
The word “yoked” refers to marriage.
Young women of Jerusalem, swear to me that you will not awaken love or arouse love before its proper time! Song of Songs 8:4
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellsprings of life” (Prov. 4:23).
